Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Format for Entering Phone Numbers
A. Because i am Safe communicates globally, ALL phone numbers MUST be entered in the 'International Calling Code Format' and must start with a '+'.
For example -
In USA
phone number (212) 333 4444 must be entered as +12123334444
In Australia
land-line number (03) 9444 5555 must be entered as +61394445555
mobile number 0411 444 555 must be entered as +61411444555
For more information about 'International Calling Codes' and 'International Number Formats', refer to Wikipedia article
Note - If the correct format is not used, i am Safe will NOT deliver your Alert SMS or Voice Notification Messages.
Q. Supported platforms
A. Currently i am Safe is only available on the iPhone. We are working on porting it to other platforms however, it will be a while before this is implemented. Keep your eye on the news channels, we will put out a 'Media Release' each time a new platform is added.
Q. Will users get updates
A. Yes, we will continually enhance the functionality of i am Safe and updates will be available to our registered users.
Q. Is the Audio Recording feature ON automatically
A. No. To turn the audio feature ON (OFF by Default) do the following -
1. Go to general Settings on your iPhone,
2. Scroll down to the i am Safe icon,
3. Select i am Safe,
4. Under 'Other Settings' find the 'Record & send audio' toggle switch,
5. Turn this ON.
Now, when you set off an 'Alert' in i am Safe, the audio feature will automatically record everything around you. Also, when your contacts navigate to the i am Safe website from the link they receive by email, at the bottom of the page there will be a section headed 'Audio Files'. The audio files are listed here with a 'Play Audio' button that allows you to listen to what was recorded at the time of the incident.
Note - uploading audio files to the server will use greater bandwidth and requires a faster connection.
